Blue Laser Pointers

Blue laser pointers bring the fun and excitement to the next level. While there may be a lot of individuals who would probably disagree with this, the fun of having lasers to point at things is actually the top reason why most people have them. Though others would probably say they use it for slide presentations during seminars, or light a match five feet away, the mere fact that it is something that can do many things adds to the fun. This does not diminish the fact, however, that they can be cool to have.

The blue laser pointer has a wavelength that is a little bit shorter than that of the red laser. You can point the blue laser pointer at some distance away and still see the small dot shining brightly. Usually, the blue laser diodes are based on gallium nitride instead of the regular zinc selenide that other types are made of. It can emit approximately four hundred nanometer and has an output power of between ten to a hundred milliwatts.

The encasements of blue laser pointers vary, from an inch to several inches in length. Normally, a single CR2 battery powers these types of laser pointers. However, there are some other types that are powered by high capacity batteries that are typically used in professional cameras. Nevertheless, some large encasements include several mirrors inside, enabling it to contain further the light of the laser source. This results in an ultra thin beam that can sometimes be projected up to a mile.

Blue laser pointers are relatively new, having been discovered by a Japanese and was made available only in the year 2006. This explains the reason why it has a high price tag of more than a thousand dollars during its initial release. As the years went by, its price gradually went down thereby making them affordable to a lot of hobbyists.

I am a laser hobbyist and when I heard that the prices of blue lasers went down, I immediately bought one. I use my blue laser pointer for presentations and a variety of other purposes. You would not believe the oohs and ahhs my blue laser pointer elicited from the audience when I first used it during my regular presentation. I now take it with me wherever I go because I do understand it can be used to mark a particular location in case of an emergency. I was so satisfied with it that I would definitely recommend blue laser pointers to enthusiasts and regular users alike.
